「アニミズム」「時空」「ポスト・コンテンポラリー」を軸に、
近代以前の日本美術における精神性に深く根差しながら、
絵画、映像を中心に、未来志向の作品制作を行っている。
「奇想の後胤」として、日本美術に見られる遊び心を現代風に解釈し、どこか柔和で心休まるしっとりとした優しい作風、動植物への観察眼や学際的な視野などで磨き抜かれた独特の世界観が特徴。
2024年にはNYでのグループ展示に参加し、ギャラリー巡りなど通じて最前線のアートシーンを体感。マレーシアのミュージシャンとの仕事など国内以外の領域でも活動している。
セルの上に描く絵画性の高い、コマ撮りの切り絵アニメーション
技術を使用することができる数少ない現役作家でもある。
はじめて作った短編アニメーションが、シカゴ国際児童映画祭に入選し、米国のワシントン・ナショナル・ギャラリーなど含めて多数上映されるなど、国外から評価を受けることが少なくない。
共感覚(synesthesia)の持ち主で、短編アニメーションは自身で音楽も制作することが多い。
東京生まれ San Franciscoで中学・高校時代を過ごす（現地校を卒業）。滞在期間中、San Francisco Conservatory of Musicの試験を受け入学を認められる。ドイツ人ピアノ教師に師事し、日本では学ぶことが難しい貴重な音楽教育を受ける機会に恵まれる。

SHUZO HIROYASU / M.HIROYASU
Shuzo HIroyasu is a Japanese artist whose practice centers on the themes of animism, spacetime, and the post-contemporary.
Deeply rooted in the spiritual dimensions of pre-modern Japanese art, he creates forward-looking works primarily in painting and video.As a “descendant of the eccentric imagination” (kiso no kōin), he reinterprets the playful spirit characteristic of Japanese art in a contemporary context.
His distinctive style is marked by a gentle, soothing softness that feels comforting and serene,combined with a sharp observational eye toward flora and fauna and an interdisciplinary perspective that refines a uniquely polished worldview.
In 2024, he participated in a group exhibition in New York and has continued to expand his activities beyond Japan, including collaborations with a Malaysia-based musician.
He is one of the few active contemporary artists capable of producing highly painterly stop-motion cut-out animation using traditional cel techniques.As a synesthete, he frequently composes the music for his short animations.
His first short animation, created in 2009, was selected for the Chicago International Children's Film Festival and screened at prestigious venues including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., among others, earning consistent international recognition.
Born in Tokyo, he spent his middle and high school years in San Francisco.
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media Department of Animation (MA)
Graduated from Economics Department of Keio University (BA)
He studied piano under a German teacher at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

We are proud to announce the official release and digital distribution of "A Place in the Sun" (available in both Vocal and Instrumental versions), a monumental musical creation that has finally come to fruition after a journey spanning nearly 36 years.

「次代の王宮（THE PALACE）」をコンセプトに設計された、豪奢で厳かな空間を彩るお仕事に携わらせていただいたことを、大変光栄に存じます。
関係者の皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。
I was honored to create and install an artwork for the upper-floor lounge of Grand Green Osaka THE NORTH RESIDENCE.
It was a great honor as an artist to contribute to this majestic and solemn space, designed under the concept of “The Next-Generation Palace (THE PALACE)” and surpassing the luxury of a five-star hotel.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who were involved in the project.

2025.2.1 作曲家・ピアニストFebian Reza Paneさんのアルバム「Field of Eternity」(2025/1/31発売）ジャケット制作させていただきました。この作品は、日本のシティポップ界のレジェンド 大貫妙子さんの番組 「 THE UNIVERSE」(2025 3 26放送/2026.3.4再放送）のFebian Reza Pane 特集でも大きく取り上げられました。I have worked for Febian Reza Pane-san, one of the top pianists in Japanese music scene, for his new album "Field of Eternity". This album was featured prominently in the Febian Reza Pane special on "THE UNIVERSE" (aired March 26, 2025 / rebroadcast March 4, 2026), a program hosted by Taeko Onuki-san, a legend in the Japanese city pop scene.
2025.1.23 サキソフォン奏者 木村佳代子さん AARONS LLC （金沢を拠点にライブ演奏、モダン郷土民謡、陶芸作品などを扱う企業）のロゴをデザインさせていただきました。アーモンドの木から芽が出て、蕾から花が咲いて実がなるといった生様、無限に続く命の循環などを描いています。I have worked logo design for one of my old and best friend, Kayoko Kimura-san, Saxphone player, for her new company.
