About “Post-Contemporary”

廣安修像が定義・提唱する「ポスト・コンテンポラリー」とは、単に「現代美術の後の時代（post）」という時間軸的な意味ではありません。これは、コンテンポラリーアート（現代美術）が歩んできた歴史的枠組みや、思想的に偏った学問・研究、メディアやビジネスとの過度な結びつきといった「総体としての限界」に対するアンチテーゼです。既存の支配や枠組みから解放され、次の段階を志向する姿勢を象徴しています。
2019年から2020年初頭にかけて活動を開始したのと同時に提唱し始めた言葉であり、アーティストステートメントの軸である「AI時代における人間性の確保」、そして現在の「AI時代における新たな人間性の獲得」というテーマと深く結びついています。
伝統的な精神性と美への再回帰と再構築
「奇想の後胤（こういん）」という言葉が示すように、自然と一体化・調和した日本美術の伝統的な美や 、遊び心、幻想性、優しく真摯な精神性を現代的に再解釈・再構築しています。単なる懐古主義ではなく、伝統を未来へ向けた基盤として据えている点が自身の独自性であると考えています。
学際的・多視点的アプローチ
絵画、映像（切り絵アニメーション）、音楽、デザイン、空間インスタレーションなどを横断して制作しています。共感覚を活かし、視覚だけでなく音や時間感覚を統合することで、「時空（spacetime）」をテーマとした没入感のある世界観を生み出しています。また、自然や動植物に宿る「生命の気配」やアニミズム的な感覚を大切にしながら、現代科学や異文化の要素も包摂し、文明を超えた包括的な視点を提示しています。
心に寄り添う柔和さと包容力ある作風
コンテンポラリーアートに散見される冷たさや過度なコンセプチュアル重視ではなく、優しさやしっとりとした包容力のある温かみ、生命の力強さを重視しています。鑑賞者からは「心が落ち着く」「新しい時代のアートを感じる」といった声が多く寄せられています。
グローバル化やデジタル化、分断が進む現代において、日本的な感性やアニミズム的視点を基盤とした「次なる芸術」を模索しています。過去・現在・未来を横断する「時空」の感覚を提示し、現代美術が 時に見失いがちな「美しさ」「癒し」「精神性」を伝統から学び直すことで、独自の視点での人間性の回復、アートに「魂」を取り戻すことを目指して活動しています。
About “Post-Contemporary”

The term “Post-Contemporary,” which I define and advocate, does not merely refer to a chronological period “after contemporary art.” Rather, it serves as an antithesis to the historical frameworks that contemporary art has established, as well as the inherent limitations of the art system as a whole—including ideologically biased academia, research, and its deep entanglement with media and business. It symbolizes an attitude oriented toward liberation from existing structures and dominance, aiming for the next phase of artistic expression.
I began proposing this concept alongside the launch of my artistic activities between 2019 and early 2020. It is deeply linked to the core themes of my Artist Statement: "Securing Humanity in the Age of AI" and its evolution, "Acquiring a New Humanity in the Age of AI."
Revisiting and Reconstructing Traditional Spirituality and Aesthetics
As embodied by the phrase "scion of the eccentric" (Kiso no Koin), I reinterpret and reconstruct the traditional aesthetics of Japanese art—its harmony with nature, playfulness, sense of wonder, and gentle yet earnest spirituality—within a contemporary context. Rather than simple nostalgia, grounding these traditions as a foundation for the future is what I consider my unique artistic identity.
An Interdisciplinary and Multisensory Approach
My work spans across painting, video (cut-out animation), music, design, and spatial installations. Leveraging synesthesia, I integrate not only visual elements but also sound and temporal perception, creating immersive environments centered on the theme of "spacetime." Furthermore, while cherishing animistic perceptions and the "presence of life" within nature and living beings, I also incorporate elements of modern science and diverse cultures, offering a holistic perspective that transcends civilization.
A Gentle, Comforting Style That Resonates with the Heart
Instead of the coldness, harsh critique, or conceptual primacy often found in contemporary art, I prioritize gentleness, warmth, and the vital power of life. Viewers frequently share that my work brings them a sense of peace and a feel for art in a new era.
In an age marked by globalization, digitalization, and fragmentation, I seek a "next art" built upon Japanese sensibilities and a foundational animistic viewpoint. By offering an experience of "spacetime" that traverses past, present, and future, my practice aims to reclaim the "soul" of art—learning from tradition to restore the beauty, healing, and spirituality that contemporary art sometimes loses sight of.
